Brad Arnold, lead singer and founding member of rock band 3 Doors Down, announced on Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and will be stepping away from the band’s upcoming tour, as reported by Fox News.

Arnold, 46, shared the diagnosis in a video posted to his Instagram, telling fans, “I’ve got some not-so-good news for you today.”

The Mississippi native said he went to the hospital after experiencing illness and was diagnosed with clear cell renal cell carcinoma that had already metastasized to his lung.

Despite the severity of the diagnosis, Arnold said he remains calm. “I have no fear, I really sincerely am not scared of it at all,” he stated in the video.

He added that the band’s summer tour would be canceled so he could focus on treatment. “And we’re sorry for that,” Arnold said. “And I’d love for you to lift me up in prayer every chance you get.”

Referencing the band’s 2008 single “It’s Not My Time,” Arnold said he would be listening to the track again for strength.

In the caption of his post, he wrote, “Now, I believe ‘IT’S NOT MY TIME’ is really my song. This’ll be a battle so we need our prayer warriors! Thank y’all for being the best fans in the world. We love y’all!”

Arnold remains the only founding member of 3 Doors Down still with the group, which originally formed in the mid-1990s. The band rose to prominence with the 2000 hit “Kryptonite,” which Arnold wrote while still in high school.

Other members currently include Chet Roberts, Justin Biltonen, Chris Henderson, and Greg Upchurch.

Former guitarist Matt Roberts, also a founding member, died in 2016 from a drug overdose.

Arnold’s cancer — clear cell renal cell carcinoma — is the most common form of kidney cancer, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The disease occurs more frequently in men than women and may arise without clear cause.

However, risk factors include smoking, obesity, high blood pressure, and kidney disease.

Arnold closed his message by thanking fans for their support and said he looks forward to seeing them again. “Thank you, guys, so much. God loves you. We love you. See you,” he said.
