A group of Hollywood celebrities has released a nearly ten-minute video titled “America 250,” marking the nation’s 250th anniversary while urging Americans to resist what they describe as the “tyranny” of President Donald Trump’s administration.

The video features actors and filmmakers such as Mark Ruffalo, Ted Danson, and Judd Apatow, along with other well-known Hollywood activists.

Together, they read from Timothy Snyder’s 2017 book "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century.”

The project focuses on Snyder’s warning that democracy faces a critical “turning point” in the coming election season.

"Today, the Republic is 250 years old. Strange though it is for me, this book has been along with the Republic for the last 10 years. I wrote it in November of 2016," Snyder said in the video.

"As I look ahead to this coming November, I see a turning point for our Republic.”

Throughout the video, participants read selections from Snyder’s “lessons” on how to safeguard democracy.
