Perez Hilton reportedly said “I need help” from his hospital bed after being transported to a medical facility following what appeared to be a self-harm livestream, as reported by Page Six.

The Daily Mail cited an insider close to his family who said the gossip blogger, 48, is “really suffering.”

“He’s a man in a lot of pain,” the insider said, according to the outlet. “I think right now he’s focused on the physical, but it’s all tied together. No one deserves the torment he’s going through.”

The insider claimed Hilton was “stable and alert” in the hospital and “able to articulate himself” while speaking to his mother, Teresita Lavandeira.

However, the source also described him as remaining in a deeply troubling emotional state.

The source said Hilton was still struggling to understand exactly what had happened. “He’s still in a dark place as I understand it. Just very, very sad.”

Before the incident, Hilton reportedly “was acting normal,” leaving those around him stunned by what followed. “He was getting excited about future projects. It had been a good day up to then.”

Hilton, who was born Mario Lavandeira Jr, was taken to a hospital late Tuesday. He had been livestreaming what appeared to be a self-harm video on TikTok from his new home in Miami.

Audio dispatch from a 911 call described the incident as a “suicide attempt.” According to the Daily Mail source, Teresita “was the one who met the cops there and told them” about the mental health crisis.

The insider said Hilton and his mother had an agreement involving his three children. If the media personality ever needed a break from caring for them, Teresita would take the children out.

Hilton’s family, including his sister, Barbara Lavandeira, issued an update on Thursday about the crisis and the children.

The statement said that “when it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself,” Barbara, Hilton’s niece, and his three children “immediately fled to protect” the children “from witnessing any further trauma.”

Hilton then began the TikTok livestream, which remained online for 15 to 20 minutes before being removed. TikTok attributed that delay to a “moderator error” in a statement provided to Deadline on Wednesday.

“Our highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced,” the family update read.

“An important part of that process is allowing them to safely return home and begin rebuilding a sense of security and normalcy.”

The Daily Mail insider pointed to several pressures in Hilton’s life, including his move from Las Vegas to Miami, two hospitalizations earlier this year, and the resulting medical bills. Even so, the source said those close to him were caught off guard by the incident.

“There was nothing specific that happened that anyone knows of,” the insider reportedly said. “He hasn’t been particularly depressed.”

The source also claimed Hilton was “actually looking forward to new opportunities and new projects.”

Although traffic numbers for his website had been low, the insider said they had recently been rising rather than falling.

According to the friend, there “wasn’t like a big event” that appeared to trigger the crisis.

“We think it’s the stress from the move,” the source said, adding that Hilton sometimes becomes overwhelmed, though never previously to this extent.

A friend from Las Vegas said Hilton had been missing the city and hoped to return, while also acknowledging that he felt “overwhelmed.” Hilton reportedly left Las Vegas in an effort to prioritize his family because “Being a good dad is part of his identity.”

The first friend said Teresita “has been crying a lot” and is “frantic. Even now.”

The source added that she is “keeping the kids; she’s let DCF [Department of Children and Families] know that she’s willing to have them as long as needed.”

An industry insider also claimed Hilton was struggling with how his career had changed since the 2000s. “Seeing everyone on TikTok do what he did years ago isn’t easy,” the source said.

“He should’ve just been living a chill life in Vegas, but that’s hard when you’ve been in the spotlight for so many years,” the industry insider added.

Hilton’s representatives did not respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
