“Harry Potter” actress Jessie Cave has admitted that joining OnlyFans felt “embarrassing,” even though the platform ultimately delivered a major financial lifeline for her family.

Before opening her account, Cave had been struggling to make ends meet while raising four children, as reported by Page Six.

During an appearance on the British daytime television show “This Morning” on Thursday, the actress discussed the financial pressure she faced after appearing in the successful “Harry Potter” franchise.

Cave portrayed Lavender Brown, Ron Weasley’s first girlfriend, in the final three films.

Despite that recognizable role, Cave said the public had a mistaken impression of her financial circumstances. “People just assume I’m rich and I have loads of money, but no, I don’t,” she said.

The smaller acting roles Cave accepted following “Harry Potter” did not provide enough money to keep her family afloat.

Discussing those difficulties publicly was uncomfortable because of the assumptions attached to her involvement with the films.

“It was embarrassing because, on a certain level, I would have really liked to get a job, but you know what it’s like [when] you have kids … it costs so much for childcare,” Cave explained during the television appearance.

Cave, 39, shares four children with her partner, comedian Alfie Brown. She described her OnlyFans work as a “weird job,” but said she “couldn’t really have done anything else” while also raising their family.

Before turning to the subscription platform, Cave took on various jobs to support herself.

She explained that consistent employment can be difficult to find in acting, even though she had managed to continue working and supporting herself for many years.

“I have managed to keep afloat for 18 years,” Cave said. “And then, it just came to a moment a couple of years ago where I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I really don’t know what I would do,’ and this was an option.”

Cave announced her OnlyFans launch through Instagram in March 2025. Rather than offering general material, she created a page focused specifically on hair content, which she described as a “fetish.”

“It’s niche, even for me,” Cave wrote in the Instagram caption announcing her decision. She then invited followers to participate, adding, “Join me on this strange new journey.”

The unusual venture soon produced far more money than Cave had initially expected. Earlier this month, she revealed that she earned £15,000, or just over $20,000, during a single day on the platform.

Cave told the UK Times that the amount was greater than everything she had earned from acting during an entire year. She charges subscribers $6 each month and said the income has “genuinely saved [her family’s] lives.”

Her original expectations for the account were considerably more modest. “I thought I’d make five grand, be on it for a few months, and it would buy me time to work out what we’re going to do,” Cave told the outlet.

Although Cave initially had reservations about signing up, her perspective on the platform has since changed.

She said she discovered “so much beauty” within the “fascinating world” of OnlyFans and appreciated the unexpected connections it offered.

“You’re engaging with people that you would never usually speak to all around the world,” Cave said.

The “Black Mirror” actress also credited the experience with improving her confidence as a woman after always feeling “very awkward [and] very weird.”

The financial boost has supported more than Cave’s immediate family expenses.

She also said on “This Morning” that the OnlyFans income has helped fund her work as an artist while she continues to perform one-woman shows.
