Rep. Ilhan Omar insisted she will continue voting in Minnesota while federal authorities investigate her immigration history and allegations involving her identity, former marriage, and path to citizenship. The Minnesota Democrat brushed aside questions about whether the investigation could threaten her status as a United States citizen.

Omar spoke briefly after casting her ballot in Minnesota, where she is seeking reelection. The federal immigration probe is examining allegations that she married her brother, lied about her birthday, and has been living under an alias.

When reporters asked whether the occasion would be her last opportunity to vote, Omar answered defiantly. “No, and I’ll continue to vote.”

Her answer was brief, and her departure was even quicker. Omar hurried away from reporters and said federal officials had not provided her with information about the investigation or whether it could affect her ability to remain a United States citizen.

Asked whether she had been briefed about warrants, Omar replied, “They haven’t said anything.” The congresswoman did not stick around for an extended discussion of the investigation and the allegations now surrounding her.

A federal filing identifies her full name as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi,” rather than the publicly familiar Ilhan Omar. Elmi is the last name of her former husband, who has long been rumored to be her brother, and the filing suggests federal authorities have evidence that she was born with that name.

Federal agents searched the Washington, DC, home of the “Squad” Democrat on Oct. 12 and seized her cellphone. Grand jury subpoenas were also issued to members of her family as authorities pursued the investigation.

Omar has denied wrongdoing and characterized the investigation as politically motivated. No charges have been announced against the congresswoman.

Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, welcomed the federal action. His organization filed an ethics complaint against Omar in 2019 that alleged immigration fraud.

“Omar was protected, and now she’s not,” Fitton told The Post. “It’s vindication for some of us who have been concerned about this kind of brazen corruption for years. And kudos to the Trump administration for following up on it.”

Shortly after voting, Omar turned to X and attacked President Trump, calling him the leader of the “pedophile protection party.” She accused him of targeting her through the “most corrupt DOJ in American history.”

“Whether the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar,” she wrote. Omar then urged people to examine Vice President JD Vance’s name instead of focusing on hers.

Omar is a naturalized United States citizen who was born in Somalia. She was first elected to Congress in 2018 and represents Minnesota’s heavily Democratic 5th Congressional District.

According to sources, the investigation centers on allegations that Omar or her late father supplied false information on immigration paperwork when the family fled Somalia during the 1990s. Authorities are examining whether any allegedly false information could have affected Omar’s path to United States citizenship.

Investigators are also examining DNA evidence to determine whether Omar’s former husband was her brother. Her father’s immigration records are being reviewed as part of the broader scrutiny.

A separate Justice Department inquiry is examining Omar’s financial disclosures after she amended a filing that initially reported millions of dollars in assets. The discrepancy was later attributed to an accounting error, adding another inquiry as Omar faces questions she plainly would rather leave behind.
