President Donald Trump rallied supporters in Port Huron, Michigan, ahead of the Nov. 3 election that will decide control of the House and Senate. The president used the appearance to hammer Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed and promote his own economic record.
El-Sayed had appeared at a Detroit rally on Saturday with former President Barack Obama. Trump responded by casting the Senate contest in stark terms before traveling to Michigan.
“Heading to Michigan to fight a Jihadist Member of the Muslim Brotherhood — A man who should never be allowed inside the Halls of our Great and Beautiful Capitol Building, in Washington, D.C,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Trump continued his attack by arguing that El-Sayed represents policies that would be damaging to the United States. He also accused the candidate of wanting the country to adopt Sharia law.
“Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed wants our Country to go to Sharia Law. If it ever does, he should be the first that’s tried!” Trump wrote.
The president also used his Truth Social post to celebrate the country’s standing and his administration’s economic agenda. He described the United States as the hottest country in the world and credited his own policies for that position.
“Because of me, the Auto Industry is doing better than it has ever done before, with Plants and Factories being built and expanded, all over the Country, especially in Michigan,” Trump wrote.
BRUTAL: President Trump kept unloading on Abdul El-Sayed in Port Huron.
Trump said El-Sayed wants to DEFUND the police and take your guns. CNN already caught El-Sayed scrubbing old posts backing the “defund” movement. Trump also hit him for leaked audio about people in Dearborn being “sad” after Iran’s Supreme Leader was killed, and for campaigning with Hasan Piker, who once said America “deserved 9/11.” Trump’s line: anyone with that kind of record “would be unable to get a seat on an airplane,” and “certainly should not” get a seat in the U.S. Senate. He even said El-Sayed would need a METAL DETECTOR before entering the chamber. Michigan does not need a senator on the wrong side of America. Michigan’s auto industry remained a central theme of Trump’s rally message. He said his policies had returned auto manufacturing to the state following years in which jobs were lost to other countries.

Trump said tariffs were bringing factories back to the United States, with a particular focus on Michigan. He also said his administration had secured record new investment commitments and that plants were being built and expanded at a pace the country had not previously seen.

"USA! USA! USA!" "You know, my competitor was here yesterday — he didn't have a crowd like this!" "Outside you have 20,000 PEOPLE trying to get in!" And some of them waited OVERNIGHT for this rally. The rally coverage pointed to old Michigan plants that had been preparing to close and new investment from Ford and GM. Trump presented the renewed activity as a result of his America First trade policy and said the auto industry was expanding again.
.@POTUS in Michigan: "Stellantis is building a new $400M factory here in your state, Ford is pouring $3B into Central Michigan, and GM is investing billions and billions of dollars to bring production right back here to Detroit." https://t.co/2TiGL2gaFk

Trump also highlighted his actions involving Selfridge Air Force Base. He said Democrats had been preparing to close the facility before he intervened, preserving thousands of jobs and the prestige associated with the base.
“I saved Selfridge Air Force Base when the Dumocrats were closing it down, saving thousands of Jobs and the Prestige that comes along with having such a place — Only I could have done that!” Trump wrote.

The election carries major consequences beyond Michigan because voters will determine control of both chambers of Congress. Trump’s appearance placed the Senate contest alongside the broader fight for the House and Senate on Nov. 3.

El-Sayed is campaigning on the message, “Money in your pocket, money out of politics, and Medicare for all.” His campaign is supported by money from Super PACs, undercutting the tidy campaign pitch.

El-Sayed’s policies would raise energy prices. His health care proposal would cost people more money while producing delayed and worse care.

Trump closed his economic case by celebrating high incomes for Americans and saying his policies had put manufacturers back to work. The message paired his criticism of El-Sayed with a direct appeal to Michigan voters centered on factories, auto jobs, investment and trade.
.@POTUS: Income for Americans is at the highest point ever. More Americans are working today than at any time in the history of our country. The poverty rate is at its best and lowest level ever. Exports have soared to the highest level in American history. https://t.co/uxMJhDuAWP

With Rogers and James appearing before him, Trump sought to rally Republican voters around the candidates and his economic record. His argument was straightforward: Michigan manufacturing is expanding, American plants are returning, and voters should keep that agenda moving.
