Joseph Duggar was arrested following a recorded phone conversation with the alleged victim’s father, according to details outlined in an affidavit obtained Wednesday, as reported by Page Six.

The March 18 call took place at the direction of Deputy Sheriff Darrell Norris. Authorities arranged the conversation as part of an investigation, with a detective present while the exchange was recorded. Investigators sought to capture statements from Duggar, 31, after he had allegedly made comments to the father in a separate call the previous day.

The investigation followed a forensic interview conducted March 18 with the father’s 14-year-old daughter. After that interview, law enforcement instructed the father to contact Duggar under supervision.

Documents further state that Duggar “admit[ted] his intentions” with the then-9-year-old “were not pure.”

A warrant for Duggar’s arrest was issued after the recorded conversation, and he was taken into custody in Arkansas on March 18. He is now facing extradition to Florida.

Duggar has been charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving a victim younger than 12, as well as lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 or older.

Authorities also outlined additional allegations involving inappropriate contact and interactions with the minor.

On March 20, Duggar and his wife, Kendra Duggar, were both charged with endangering a minor and false imprisonment.

According to reports, those charges stem from “lock[s] of the doorknob on the outside instead of inside” in multiple rooms.

Kendra Duggar, 27, was arrested and later released, while Joseph Duggar remains in custody.

Members of the Duggar family have responded publicly to the case. Jinger Duggar and Jill Duggar have denounced the alleged actions.

Meanwhile, Josh Duggar, who is serving a 12-year prison sentence for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material, criticized the case against his brother.

“false accusations [that] can destroy a life,” Josh Duggar said.

Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar have not issued a statement regarding the charges.

Authorities continue to move forward with the case as Duggar awaits extradition and further legal proceedings in Florida. Officials have not released additional details about the investigation beyond what is contained in the affidavit.
