Newly released police body camera footage from a March incident shows Dallas Wings stars crowding a Miami officer as he arrested teammate Arike Ogunbowale outside a nightclub, as reported by Red State.

The tense encounter turned what the original account described as a simple arrest into a chaotic confrontation.

Ogunbowale had been accused of punching a male staff member with a closed fist. The accusation came hours after she won an Unrivaled 3-on-3 title.

The footage was first obtained by the California Post and circulated Tuesday. It shows several WNBA players closing in around Ogunbowale while the officer attempted to conduct the arrest.

League star Paige Bueckers can be seen wrapping an arm around Ogunbowale during the commotion. She tells the officer, “We got her.”

Bueckers was not the only player caught in the crush surrounding Ogunbowale.

Jackie Young and DiJonai Carrington were also among the WNBA players gathered around the officer and their teammate.

Carrington was described in the original account as the player who clotheslined Sophie Cunningham and threatened her afterward.

During the March encounter, she was among those present as the officer repeatedly attempted to clear space.

The officer ordered the players to back up, but those attempting to shield Ogunbowale did not follow his directives.

Their refusal to release her kept the confrontation going as the officer tried to secure the arrest.

The situation escalated when the officer drew a Taser. He pointed it near Bueckers’ face until the players finally released Ogunbowale and moved away.

Ogunbowale is a four-time WNBA All-Star and a former league scoring leader.

Yet the champion argument received a blunt response in the original account: champions get arrested, and Tiger Woods can attest to that.

According to ESPN’s account of the police report, Ogunbowale struck the male staff member with a closed fist and knocked him down.

The report also indicated that nightclub video supported the man’s version of what happened.

The Athletic reported that the punch occurred while Ogunbowale was being escorted from the nightclub. Her removal from the club followed an unrelated altercation, according to that report.

Authorities charged Ogunbowale with misdemeanor battery following the incident. She posted $1,000 bail, while court documents later showed that the case was dismissed in May.

Ogunbowale’s attorney welcomed the decision not to continue with the case.

The attorney told the outlet at the time, “We are pleased that the State Attorney's Office has exercised its discretion and elected not to move forward with this matter.”

The attorney continued, “Ms. Ogunbowale is a person of outstanding character, and we are excited that these charges have been dismissed so she can resume her focus on her professional career.”

The dismissal ended the case against Ogunbowale, but the release of the footage brought renewed attention to the arrest and the conduct of the players around her.

The video captures the officer issuing directions as the athletes remained crowded around their teammate.
