WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Leaked audio captured POPAI leaders discussing killing politicians, their children, and others during a meeting earlier this month.
  • Ashton Hirschi said MAGA supporters could potentially return to society through reeducation.
  • POPAI members previously praised stickers urging people to shoot President Trump and encouraged their distribution around Provo.
  • Democratic Utah House candidate David Chappell posted in POPAI’s Discord and has not fully disavowed the group.
  • ICE arrested POPAI member Hector Mujica, who created and distributed the violent stickers, on October 16.

A leaked recording obtained by The Cougar Chronicle features Venna Anne and Ashton Hirschi, both identified as leaders of the Utah group POPAI. During a meeting earlier this month, the pair discussed killing politicians and their children, along with reeducation for MAGA supporters.

The disturbing exchange began during a conversation about capitalism. Someone told Anne, “You just can’t get away from capitalism,” and Anne replied, “No, unless we kill everybody.”

Hirschi answered that they only needed to kill “some” people. The conversation initially landed on the number “500,” turning a political discussion into a grotesque calculation about who supposedly needed to die.

Anne then expanded the conversation beyond the original targets. “You also have to kill their children and their [line of succession],” she said.

Hirschi agreed with the focus on elected officials, stating, “We need to get the politicians.” The remarks showed the POPAI leaders openly discussing political violence rather than merely arguing over policy or ideology.

The conversation also addressed whether ICE agents could eventually integrate back into society. Hirschi answered, “If you’re talking about politicians or billionaires? No. Those f**kers gotta go. Period and point blank.”

When the discussion turned to what was described as “counter-revolutionaries or MAGA people,” Hirschi raised the possibility of allowing them back into society. That prospect, however, came with a chilling ideological condition.

“There’s a possibility for reintegration [into society]. It would have to come through reeducation,” Hirschi said. His statement placed political opponents in a category requiring ideological correction before returning to society.

The leaked meeting was not the first time POPAI members had been connected to violent political rhetoric. The Cougar Chronicle reported in August that members of the group’s Discord praised stickers that read “Shoot Trump, Be A Hero” and “Shoot Trump, Be A Hero, Become Unforgettable.”

Anne called the stickers “sick af” and encouraged members to place them around Provo. Hirschi and other group participants described the stickers as “beautiful” and encouraged their creator to “double down.”

The stickers were created and distributed by Hector Mujica, a POPAI member and Venezuelan national. ICE arrested Mujica in downtown Provo on October 16 and placed him in custody.

POPAI has also been linked to efforts to disrupt a Turning Point USA memorial event for Charlie Kirk. The group’s activities have extended beyond private online discussions and into public organizing in Provo.

Democratic candidate David Chappell, who is running for Utah House District 62, is a POPAI member who posted in the group’s Discord. Chappell later said he was no longer active in the organization and had not participated for “several months.”

Screenshots, however, showed Chappell posting as recently as September 22. In that message, he indicated that he planned to return to the group’s meetings after Election Day, undercutting the distance he later attempted to place between himself and POPAI.

Chappell has not fully disavowed either the organization or Mujica. His ties to the group now sit alongside the leaked remarks from Anne and Hirschi and the previously reported Discord activity.

POPAI has organized anti-ICE protests in Provo, including a July 15 event. Participants carried signs reading “ICE DESTROYS FAMILIES,” “REPEAL 287(g)!” and “HONK IF YOU HATE ICE.”

The organization maintains an Instagram presence and has collaborated with other leftist groups. Between the leaked meeting, the violent stickers, the political connections, and the public protests, POPAI’s own members have supplied an ugly look at the rhetoric circulating inside the organization.
