Josh O’Connor may have let a major casting secret slip during a night out, according to London pub chatter reported by the Sun. The 36-year-old English actor is rumored to be the next star chosen to play James Bond.
The claim reportedly came from one of O’Connor’s cast members in the drama “Golden Boy.” An unnamed source told the outlet that an accidental conversation unfolded after the cast member was spotted at The French House.
“I bumped into one of Josh’s ‘Golden Boy’ cast mates at The French House,” a source told the outlet Thursday. “They were recognized by a lot of people who asked for selfies and we got chatting in a corner completely by accident.”
Josh O’Connor could be the next James Bond, according to a new report from @TheSun.

According to the source, the conversation then took a startling turn after several drinks. The cast member allegedly offered a remarkably direct answer to the question that has surrounded the next Bond movie.
“Out of nowhere, and oiled by a few glasses of lager, they blurted out that Josh was the next James Bond,” the source added.
The source said the cast member was “insistent” that O’Connor had secured the role. The unnamed person reportedly claimed that O’Connor had shared the news after the cast of “Golden Boy” gathered for celebratory drinks following the end of the play’s run on Halloween.
“They said that he had confided in them about getting the role when the cast of ‘Golden Boy’ had celebratory drinks after the play finished its run on Halloween,” the source claimed.
The source also described the cast member as “clearly very proud” of O’Connor. Despite the confidence behind the reported pub declaration, no official announcement confirming the next James Bond actor.

Page Six reached out to Amazon and EON Productions for comment. The next installment, currently known as “Bond 26,” is slated to premiere in 2028, although an official release date has not been announced.
Amazon MGM Studios will develop the movie. The identity of the actor who will step into the role remains the biggest unanswered question surrounding the project as reported screen tests continue.
O’Connor is among several actors whose names have surfaced in connection with Bond. The other rumored contenders named in the report are Jacob Elordi, Jack Lowden and Callum Turner.
O’Connor addressed the attention in an interview with the BBC on Tuesday. Rather than dismissing the possibility, he said he was “very honored” to be considered for the role, while offering no confirmation that he had been selected.

“It’s an incredibly bizarre, pinch-me moment … even being uttered in that same sentence and being considered for something like that,” O’Connor told the outlet. “To be considered in that same sort of bracket is extraordinary.”
The actor declined to reveal anything further about his possible involvement. He explained that he was “afraid” there was “nothing to say beyond that,” leaving the reported pub confession as an unconfirmed claim.
Daniel Craig, 58, was the previous actor to play James Bond. He stepped away from the role after starring in “No Time to Die” in 2021, creating the vacancy at the center of the ongoing casting speculation.
O’Connor most recently starred as Dr. Daniel Kellner in the science fiction thriller “Disclosure Day.” He is also known for playing the younger King Charles III in the hit television show “The Crown.”
That performance earned O’Connor a Primetime Emmy in 2021. He won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his work in the television production.
For now, the actor’s name remains part of the reported Bond competition alongside Elordi, Lowden and Turner. Unless Amazon or EON Productions confirms the casting, the alleged revelation remains a dramatic piece of pub chatter surrounding “Bond 26.”
