An illegal alien from Venezuela was arrested near the White House on Thursday after officers allegedly found him in a stolen vehicle carrying multiple firearms. The Department of Homeland Security said the suspect had reportedly threatened to kill President Donald Trump.
U.S. Secret Service officers approached the suspect Thursday evening after spotting him "acting suspicious in his car while it was parked on Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C.," DHS told Fox News.
According to DHS, the man told officers that he had heard voices in his head directing him to travel to Washington and kill Trump. The troubling admission quickly turned an already suspicious encounter into a far more serious security threat.
Officers then learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen, DHS said. The suspect also admitted that weapons were inside the vehicle, prompting officers to search it.
Authorities reportedly recovered three firearms, including a rifle styled after an AR-15 and two handguns, along with dozens of rounds of ammunition. DHS also identified the recovered weapons as an AR-15-style weapon, a Mac-10 and a Glock 43X.
Officials identified the suspect as Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos, an illegal alien from Venezuela. According to authorities, Chrinos illegally entered the United States through Texas in March 2024 and was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol.
Chrinos was later released into the country under the Biden administration, authorities said. Following Thursday’s arrest, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer for him with the U.S. Marshals Service, which currently has custody of Chrinos.
The Secret Service said the confrontation reflected a growing threat from armed individuals "drawn to the White House complex." Secret Service Director Sean Curran credited agency personnel with preventing the volatile encounter from escalating further.

"This is the latest example of Secret Service personnel relying on extensive training and experience to de-escalate a volatile situation that posed an imminent threat to our protectees and other Americans," Curran said in a statement.

Curran said personnel remain prepared to handle such encounters, but he also voiced alarm over the pattern of threats. "While our personnel are trained to respond to situations like this, and we remain confident in our tactics, we are alarmed by the increase in threat cases that continue to arise."
To disrupt potential dangers before they reach Washington, Curran said the agency would continue to "focus on proactively investigating and identifying individuals" who raise suspicion. The agency’s concern comes as security incidents continue to surface near prominent government sites in the capital.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin praised the Secret Service for intervening before the suspect could hurt anyone. "This is just an example of the incredible work done by the men and women of the Secret Service every single day as they put their lives on the line to protect our nation’s leaders," Mullin said in a statement.
Chrinos faces a lengthy roster of charges, including carrying a rifle outside a home or business and three counts of unlawful transportation of a firearm. He was also charged with three counts of possessing an unregistered firearm and three counts of possessing unregistered ammunition.
Additional charges include possession of certain dangerous weapons, carrying a pistol without a license, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Chrinos was also charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
The arrest follows other alarming encounters near the nation’s capital. Three months earlier, California resident Philan-Tam-Duy Le was found near Capitol Hill after driving across the country with an operational guillotine measuring 10 feet tall in his pickup truck.
Two other suspects rammed vehicles into security barricades near the White House in separate incidents. Those encounters occurred in March 2026 and October 2025, adding to the series of security scares confronting authorities around the capital.
