As online shopping has gotten more and more popular in the past few years, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of package thieves. These criminals steal packages from doorsteps and run off with them without even knowing what is inside.

Now, one man is so fed-up with this that he has decided to take action against these thieves in a big way. Jaireme Barrow lives on a busy street in Tacoma, Washington, and he frequently found himself being targeted by package thieves.

Finally, Jaireme had enough, so he decided to get revenge on these thieves by rigging a box with a 12-gauge blank shotgun shell that would detonate as soon as the package was lifted up. This causes an incredibly disturbing noise to sound off, leaving the package thief running for his or her life!

“I was thinking, how could I scare them and make them drop my package and then never come to my front porch again," Jaireme explained. "And I thought, ‘Getting shot at is scary. That’ll make them think twice.’”

“The very first guy I did it to, he was so scared he dropped his cellphone in my front yard. I gave it to the cop," he added. "Turns out, he lived, like, three blocks away from me.”

Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool explained that while this device may be cool, it's also illegal.

“Even though it’s a blank, the way the device is made is actually illegal," she said. "Even more than him crossing the line, I’m not sure if people realize that, even though this person is stealing something, he can’t intentionally set them up to be hurt.”

She added that Jaireme is not under investigation right now because “nobody has reported this. We have to have a victim.”

Despite this, Jaireme said that watching the wannabe thieves get scared off is very satisfying for him.

“One girl, she screamed so loud — it was instant karma,” he said. “Someone is trying to commit a crime, and you’re able to get back at them instantly. It’s a satisfaction I can’t describe.”

Social media users everywhere agree with Jaireme on this one, as they find it satisfying to watch as well! Check out the video below!
