Patrick John and Patricia Hughes were overjoyed when they learned that they were expecting a baby boy. Patrick John was particularly excited about having a son, as he could not wait to bond with the boy by taking him fishing and playing catch with him in the backyard.

Sadly, all of these dreams were put aside when their son Patrick Henry was born without eyes. The little baby was also born with a condition in which his ligaments couldn’t stretch to allow his arms and legs to straighten, meaning he would have to grow up using a wheelchair and later have to be fitted with artificial eyes.

Though Patrick Henry had some physical disabilities, his parents soon learned that their little boy was actually incredibly talented with music! From the time he was a year-old, Patrick Henry was showing his family his incredible skills on the piano!

It all started when Patricia would prop Patrick Henry up on her lap as she played a tune on the keys. The baby would then replicate the tune perfectly, figuring out where the keys were without being able to see! From the start, it was clear Patrick Henry was a musical prodigy relying on his impeccable instincts to play the instrument.

Soon enough, Patrick Henry could play songs like "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "You Are My Sunshine." By the time he was 2, he was even taking requests!

"I was ecstatic. We weren’t going to play baseball, but we’re going to play music together," his father Patrick John said.

As Patrick Henry grew up, he never let his disabilities hold him back from his musical passions. He is now proficient in both piano and the trumpet, and with the help of his father, he plays in the marching band at the University of Louisville.
