A family was sitting inside their Norwalk, California home one day when three armed men suddenly burst inside through their unlocked front door. The gunman immediately cornered the parents and threatened to kill them, never expecting that it would be the family's 7 year-old son who would outsmart them.
The family's little boy Carlos is being hailed as a hero after he managed to grab his 6 year-old sister and slipped unseen into the bathroom with her.

As the armed thugs continued to threaten his parents, Carlos frantically dialed 911 just as his mother had taught him to.
"There's some guys! They're going to kill my mom and dad, can you come please. ... Can you come really fast? PLEASE, PLEASE," he told the dispatcher.

Los Angeles County sheriff's dispatcher Monique Patino was able to stay calm as she coached Carlos through what to do, but she later admitted that the experience of hearing the fear in the child's voice was "horrific."
"I was really shook up," she recalled.

Explaining that the strangers had guns, Carlos asked Monique to "come really fast!"
"Bring cops ... lots of them," he yelled, asking her to send soldiers as well. His little sister could be heard crying in the background.

Monique feared the worst when she suddenly heard both children start screaming.
"Once I heard the screams, I'm holding the phone and shaking, in tears. All I can hear is them screaming," she said.

Realizing the children were hiding in the bathroom, the gunmen broke down the door and demanded to know who Carlos was talking to. Carlos defiantly replied "911," at which point the punks did something that nobody was expecting.
