When a thieving thug decided to target an elderly woman as his latest robbery victim, he certainly wasn't expecting this to happen!

Since the woman was older, the perpetrator assumed that stealing from her would be easy. However, after breaking into the home, the criminal was outsmarted by a quick-thinking, brave lady.

Helen Reynolds, 88, was sitting in her Pennsylvania home one day back in February when she heard a knock on her door. When she saw a man smiling at her from the other side of the door, she decided to let him in thinking that he was an apartment complex worker. Once he was inside, the thug mugged Helen, stealing $40-worth of items from her home, but he didn't stop there.

Enraged when Helen told him she did not have anything else, he wrapped her face in duct tape while her glasses were still on. Before he could cover her mouth, however, Helen said something very powerful to him.

“Would you do this to your mother? To bother her like you are doing me?” she said.

Unfazed by this, the robber picked Helen up and threw her on the bed. When he began taking off his clothes, Helen realized he was going to rape her, so she said something that stopped him dead in his tracks.

“Well, it’s like this; you might as well know the truth…I have HIV, and my husband died from it," she told him.

This was a complete lie, but Helen sold the story like it was her job.

“…When I said that, he just walked out of the bedroom," Helen recounted.

This move likely saved Helen's life, as the thug may have killed her after the rape. Instead, he fled the home and Helen was eventually able to chew through the duct tape to scream for help. Now, she is giving all the credit to God for getting her through this.

“It was all about me and my God, and he helped me out," Helen said.

As for the robber, Helen wants the offender to be found to pay for his heinous crime.

“Put him in jail, and leave the sucker there,” she said.
