As online shopping has skyrocketed over the past few years, it has brought with it a troubling surge in package theft.
A recent survey has highlighted just how pervasive this issue has become, revealing that nearly one-third of respondents have personally experienced the theft of a package.
In addition to this, 40% of those surveyed admitted that they avoid purchasing expensive items, such as electronics, due to the fear of them being stolen from their doorsteps.

This growing problem has left many feeling vulnerable and frustrated, but one man from Tacoma, Washington, has decided to take matters into his own hands.

Jaireme Barrow, fed up with losing valuable packages to thieves, decided it was time to fight back.
“Like most people, I have everything delivered, from expensive car parts to toilet paper. So, they’ve pretty much taken everything,” Jaireme explained.
His frustration is a sentiment that resonates with many who have been victims of this crime.

With law enforcement agencies stretched thin and unable to dedicate the necessary resources to investigate every instance of package theft, the problem has often gone unchecked.
Jaireme added, “I think police are just inundated with this kind of occurrence now. You forward it to them, but if you have hundreds of them coming in, the manpower isn’t there for them to investigate all of them. After they started taking my expensive Jeep parts is where I drew a line in the sand.”

In response to his personal experiences, Jaireme devised an innovative solution: TheBlankBox.
This clever invention looks like a normal package but is, in fact, a cleverly disguised booby trap. Using fishing wire and a 12-gauge shotgun blank, TheBlankBox produces a loud gunshot-like noise when moved, designed to scare off potential thieves before they can make off with their ill-gotten goods.
The effectiveness of Jaireme’s invention has been captured in a viral video compilation that shows just how startling this device can be for unsuspecting thieves.

The footage features numerous would-be thieves getting the fright of their lives, showcasing just how successful TheBlankBox is at deterring theft.
In one particularly memorable clip, a thief is seen attempting to make a quick getaway with the package, only to be startled by the loud bang.
“One guy actually was trying to run so fast that he forgot there was a step there and missed it,” Jaireme recalled.

“He looked like he was trying to do the invisible box challenge in the air, like Roadrunner. He hit the ground pretty hard and didn’t look back and kept running for his getaway car.”
Despite the dramatic reactions captured on video, Jaireme insists that his invention is safe. “It’s safe minus some scrapes and bumps,” he assured.
“All these people get to live to see another day. I don’t think there’s any harm in it.”

While some might view Jaireme’s approach as extreme, it’s hard not to feel a sense of satisfaction seeing these thieves get what many would consider a well-deserved shock.
His inventive solution highlights the lengths to which everyday citizens will go to protect their property in the face of a growing crime wave.
For those who are tired of feeling powerless against package thieves, Jaireme’s story offers both inspiration and a practical example of how innovation and a bit of ingenuity can turn the tables on would-be criminals.
As package theft continues to rise alongside the popularity of online shopping, solutions like TheBlankBox might just be the key to helping homeowners reclaim their sense of security.
The viral video of Jaireme’s invention in action serves as both a deterrent to potential thieves and a source of amusement for viewers.
It’s a modern twist on an age-old desire for justice, reminding us all that sometimes, the best way to deal with a problem is to think outside the box—literally.
Share this story with your friends and family to spread the word about Jaireme’s innovative approach to stopping package theft in its tracks.

When a delivery is made and a picture taken, that seems to be airtight, right? NOPE. I received the same exact picture on another delivery. Who knows how long that picture has been stored in someone’s phone. Now 2 items were not there when I received the email and immediately went to get them. ARE THE PICS BEING STORED IN A PHONE FOR FURTHER USE! I have Ring and cameras -nothing.
Trust your Ring and cameras – they are under YOUR control. Most couriers are quite honest though – just the oddball that spoils it for the rest. Keep up the surveillance – its the only way YOU can be sure 😉
