Jasper National Park is located deep in the middle of the Canadian Rockies. It's known for its beautiful lakes, lush forests, and amazing wildlife. That's why when a family driving through the park saw something black scurrying alongside the road, they were certain it was a baby bear. They couldn't have been more wrong.

As the family got closer to the figure, the dad driving slowed down the car so as not to run into the animal, and it's a good thing he did. When they got close enough the family realized it wasn't a baby bear at all. It was a little girl frantically waving for help.

The family immediately pulled over, but when the little girl began to guide the dad towards the edge of a 40 foot embankment he became apprehensive. He knew at that moment that something terrible must have happened, even though he couldn't see down the embankment because the trees were so thick.

A few minutes before the family had arrived near the embankment and spotted the little girl, 5-year-old Lexi woke up in the backseat of her family's vehicle wondering what had just happened. Her baby brother was strapped into his car seat, but her mom who was driving, was in the front seat unconscious. Lexi knew she had to get help.

She freed herself from her carseat and scrambled up the embankment in her bare feet. The underbrush of the forest scratched at her feet and legs, but she was determined to get help. When she reached the top of the hill, it was the family that stopped to help Lexi's mom and little brother; and they came at just the right time.

When paramedics arrived, they had to use ropes to get down the embankment to Lexi's family. When they reached the vehicle, Angela, Lexi's mom, was still unconscious and her heart had stopped beating. Paramedics had to revive her and bring her back to life. They rushed Angela and Peter, Lexi's little brother, to a nearby hospital.
