Teenage drivers, mostly because of their young age, are usually considered inexperienced and therefore, more of a liability on the road.

Add now the distractions that young drivers have like their cell phones, and the risks on the road grows exponentially. Luckily, the teenager in this story does not fall into this stereotype of not being aware of his surroundings.

16 year-old Max Greenwood was driving around in his car when he noticed a truck was parked at a stop sign. Max immediately saw that drivers were furious at the trucker as they honked their horns at him while passing the vehicle rather than actually asking themselves why it was parked there in the first place.

Sensing something was wrong Max pulled over instead of speeding past the truck. The teenagers then approached the vehicle to try and see what was going on.

"A few people were honking and a couple of people passed him because they were frustrated he was stopped. I didn't want to just honk and be a dirt bag like that," Max recounted.

Seeing Max pull over, two other women decided to join him and approached the truck as well. When they looked inside, they saw the driver was in clear need of immediate aid.

"He told the women he thought his blood sugar was low," Max said. "He got progressively worse. One of the women gave him a Coke to help his sugar levels, but I could tell it wasn't helping, so I called 911."

The group stayed with the man until first responders arrived on the scene and rushed him to the hospital. The medical workers said that had they not gotten there when they did, the driver's condition would likely have deteriorated rapidly.

When Max was later asked why he decided to help instead of speeding past the truck like everyone else did, he said the answer was simple.

"It's a person," the wise teenager said. "If I was in his situation, I would want someone to help me.... I stopped because I always try and make an effort to help people on the side of the road."

Max's mother, Mary Pudelko, said she was not surprised by what her son did, as she explained that she raised him to care about the well-being of others.

"You preach to your kids that you need to do the right thing, and when he did I was really proud," she said. "In this day and age, when a lot of kids don't think about anyone but themselves, he stepped up and it made a difference."

In today's world that often seems to be dominated by negativity, it's so refreshing to see a teenager who is putting others before himself. SHARE this story if you think Max Greenwood is a hero!
