The Schwandt family has captured hearts around the world with their unique story.

Jay and Kateri Schwandt, from Michigan, have raised thirteen boys over the past 25 years, and to their amazement, they recently welcomed their fourteenth child—another son!

Their family’s story has gained attention for its sheer rarity, as it's quite uncommon to have so many children of the same gender.

Yet, despite the odds, the Schwandts have embraced each addition to their family with joy and excitement.

Jay and Kateri, now in their 40s, have always cherished the experience of expanding their family.

Though having so many boys is unusual, they never hesitated to welcome another child into their lives. When they discovered Kateri was pregnant with their fourteenth baby, they knew this would likely be their last.

Reflecting on this milestone, Jay said, "[Kateri and I] are both in our 40s now so we know we're coming to the end of this. So when we found out she was expecting number 14 we really relished everything that's gone along with her being pregnant again thinking this is probably the last time."

As with every pregnancy, the excitement was palpable, both for Jay and Kateri and for their sons, who range in age from 25 to 2 years old. Despite already having thirteen boys, the couple dared to hope that perhaps this time they might finally welcome a little girl into the family.

Jay confessed, "I was pulling for a girl," adding that some of their sons also shared the same wish, while others were content to have another brother join the ranks.

The months passed, and the anticipation grew. However, when Kateri gave birth, it was clear that God had other plans for them—another beautiful baby boy had arrived.

Jay expressed his joy and acceptance of the outcome, saying, "We've got all boys, so it's what we're used to. It would've been nice to have a girl, but we're super excited to have another boy."

Though the dream of having a daughter was never realized, Jay and Kateri’s love for their children has always been their guiding light, and the addition of their newest son was celebrated wholeheartedly.

The Schwandts chose the name Finley for their fourteenth boy, but they decided to make his middle name extra special, given that he is likely to be their last child.

Kateri’s father used to tell the story of a Native American chief who, after fathering many sons, was sure his next child would be a girl. When the child turned out to be another boy, the chief humorously named him “Sheyboygan,” meaning "She’s a boy again."

Inspired by this story, Jay and Kateri decided to give their son the middle name Sheyboygan, marking the legacy of their all-boy family with a touch of humor.

Finley Sheyboygan Schwandt joins his thirteen brothers: Tyler (25), Zach (22), Drew (21), Brandon (19), Tommy (16), Vinny (15), Calvin (12), Gabe (11), Wesley (9), Charlie (8), Luke (6), Tucker (4), and Francisco (2).

Each of these boys has brought their own unique personality and dynamic to the Schwandt household, and together they create a family full of love, adventure, and endless brotherly bonds.

Though their journey of having children may be coming to an end, the Schwandts will always treasure the remarkable path they’ve walked as parents to fourteen boys.

Their story is one of love, resilience, and faith in embracing the family that they were meant to have.
