Singer and actress Sara Bareilles revealed a disturbing discovery inside her home after opening a door she said had never been accessed before, documenting the moment in a video shared on Instagram, as reported by Page Six.

Bareilles, 46, said the incident took place at her country home, where she decided to investigate a door that had remained closed until debris began falling out from behind it.

The singer filmed the encounter, initially approaching the situation with a lighthearted tone before quickly reacting to what she found.

“When you live in the country, and you open a door that has always been closed every time before,” Bareilles said while recording. “And you see some stuff falling out, you think, maybe I should see what’s inside.”

Moments after opening the door, Bareilles reacted to what appeared to be animal remains inside.

“It’s a skull … it’s a skull … the bone of a maggot-filled skull,” she said in the video.

The space behind the door appeared to contain a mixture of dirt, soot, and decomposing remains. Bareilles continued reacting to the scene as she filmed.

“I don’t know what this thing is. It’s a giant dragon. What the f–k?!” she said.

She quickly shut the door after the initial discovery, but later returned with gloves and a paper bag to remove what she described as a carcass.

In a follow-up clip, Bareilles explained that she had not previously been able to open the door until material began falling out, prompting her to investigate further. Upon reopening the door, she described the remains in more detail.

She said the contents included a “carcass and remains of some kind of giant rodent,” adding that she believed it could be a raccoon.

Using a garden shovel, Bareilles removed the remains, but said the situation became more unsettling as she continued.

“This body is big. It’s like a turkey,” she said before reacting again.

“Oh my God, it’s like birthing itself backwards. There’s multiples. It’s multiple things!” she said.

Bareilles gathered the remains into a bag and later summarized the experience in a brief comment.

“That was traumatic.”

She also referenced a survival television show while reflecting on the situation.

“I won’t give any spoilers, but you got to be tough,” she said. “If one of those contestants had encountered this, they would have boiled the bones.”

Bareilles said she planned to return the remains to nature and described the approach she intended to take.

She said she would offer a “little blessing” before doing so, despite noting the animals were “very dead.”

The video drew reactions from others, including her “Girls5eva” co-star Busy Philipps, who commented on the footage in a separate Instagram Story.

“It is so vile,” Philipps said. “This is the worst HGTV show I’ve ever seen in my life … she’s braver than I am.”

Bareilles is known for her work as a singer-songwriter and for her role in the Broadway production “Waitress.” The incident gained attention after being shared with her followers on social media.
