You might have seen this optical illusion before and not thought much of it. The image is called "My Wife or Mother-In-Law" and is one of the most well-known illusions in history. It's also one that you should pay closer attention to.

The image first appeared on a German postcard in 1888 and was redrawn by a British cartoonist in 1915. What you see in the picture depends on your age according to researchers.

So what do you see? Do you see the illustration of an older woman with a pointed chin and hooked nose looking towards the left, or do you see a young woman staring off into the distance?

Warning: Account balances and purchasing power no longer tell the same story. Know in 2 minutes if your retirement is working for you.

The first woman you see says a lot about your age according to a new study. Out of 400 participants, the people who saw a young woman were more likely to be young themselves. Those who saw the older woman were more likely to be part of the older population.

If you're having a hard time seeing either one of the women, a side-by-side image will help you distinguish the two. The image on the left shows the younger woman. The older woman's eyes serve as the ear and the lips serve as the necklace.

The image on the right shows the older woman whose lips are the younger woman's necklace and the face is the nose. So what does it mean? The study showed that we tend to process faces similar to our own ages better.
